Top Festivals in Sikkim
Sikkim is known for its mountains and vibrant culture. It is home to several peaceful monasteries. You can visit them for their architecture and mediate as well. From lakes to valleys, and from restaurants to national parks, Sikkim has a lot to offer for national as well as international tourists.

- Losoong Festival: This festival is like a carnival and a new year celebration. It is known for the Chaam dance and contests involving archery. Losoong festival is not only celebrated by the Bhutias and Lepchas but also by the tribal people.
- Losar Festival: The Losar Festival is a Tibetan New Year event. It is held in February. This is a harvest festival and also goes by the name of Gyalpo Losar. People visit monasteries, perform rituals, visit loved ones and offer flowers.
- Bhumchu Festival: Bhumchu is the traditional name for a sacred pot containing holy water. This festival is based on the Tibetan lunar calendar. Several devotees from in and around neighbouring cities and states come to the Tashiding monastery for the festival.
- International Flower Festival: Sikkim’s geographical location gives it the advantage of growing beautiful flowers, namely: Rhododendron and Orchid. These flowers along with other varieties are showcased to the audience during the International Flower Festival held in Gangtok.
- Saga Dawa: This festival is celebrated by the Mahayana Buddhists. It features masked dances and lighting of lamps in monasteries. A convoy of monks moves about in Gangtok chanting hymns during Saga Dawa.
- Tendong Lho Rum Faat: This is a three-day festival observed all over the state. It is celebrated by Sikkim’s Lepcha tribe. People pray to Mount Tendong situated in Namchi during the festival. They also make the mountain’s model in their home and worship it.
