Bathukamma Festival: This festival is dedicated to Goddess Durga. Bathukamma is a state festival that is usually celebrated in September and October. Women arrange a stack of flowers signifying the holy gopuram. They circle it and sing songs. The festival ends with the immersion of the stack or Bathukamma in a water body.
Bonalu: Bonalu is another popular festival in Telangana, especially in Hyderabad and Secunderabad. It is held in July or August. The Bonalu festival involves the worshipping of Goddess Mahakali. Women prepare a meal of rice, jaggery, and milk and offer it to the Goddess. It can be viewed as a thanksgiving festival.
