Popular Festivals in Tripura:
Garia Puja: This seven-day festival is celebrated across the state in April. People worship Lord Garia with flowers and garlands during this festival. A Garia Carnival is also arranged during Garia Puja. Children sing and dance to please the Lord during Garia Puja.
Ashokastami Festival: This festival is held in Unakoti and Kailashahar during February. It is also known as the Unakoti Festival. It is a hill station as well as a place of historic importance. The highlight of this festival is bathing in the holy river.
Pilak Festival: Pilak festival is a three-day event. It is held in Jolaibari and Pilak archaeological site. This festival is usually celebrated in February or March. People from nearby areas visit this festival and relish the cultural programs showcased during the event.
Kharchi Festival: This festival is celebrated in July in West Tripura, Khayerpur and Old Agartala. This is an annual festival associated with tribal deities. This festival also includes the arrangement of a fair that lasts for seven days.
Poush Sankranti Fair: The Poush Sankranti Fair is an annual event that is held at the beginning of the calendar year in January. It is held at Tirthamukh. People take a dip in the holy river, Gomti during the festival and enjoy the two-day fair.
