The new Hero Xoom 160 is perhaps the most radical looking scooter from Hero yet, and it also happens to be its most powerful offering.
Hero MotoCorp was not holding back any punches at the Auto Expo 2025 with the Xoom 160 earning the award of the Best Market Launch Award at the Acko Drive Best of Show. The Indian two-wheeler major launched four brand new two-wheelers, and the most outstanding option of the lot was the maxi-scooter.
Our editor-in-chief, Siddharth Vinayak Patankar, has been very passionate to recognise some of the best candidates from several editions of the Auto Expo. For this year he was joined by the members of the Acko Drive team, along with industry leaders and fellow journalists, Yogendra Pratap, Renuka Kirpalani, and Hani Musthafa to judge the best new launches. The Xoom 160 triumphed over its Hero siblings as well as the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure, the S 1000 RR, and the Suzuki Access 125 to earn the award. At ₹1.49 lakh (ex-showroom price, Delhi), the Xoom 160 won’t cost buyers a fortune, making it one of the most promising scooters to look forward to.
It might be a maxi-scooter, but it has a distinctive rugged appeal that is quite purposeful. Right from the 14-inch alloy wheels shod with chunky block pattern tyres to its upswept exhaust, the Hero Xoom 160 looks like it has been built to take on non-existent roads. Plus, it is the first Hero scooter to be powered by a 156 cc, liquid-cooled engine that is good for 14.6 bhp and 14 Nm, also making it the most powerful Hero scooter yet.
Bookings for the Hero Xoom 160 will commence from February 2025, and deliveries will start from March 2025 onwards. Now that it has won our Best Market Launch Award, we can’t wait to ride it.
