The power of the Activa brand helped its electric avatar earn lots of adoration from Expo visitors

The people have spoken, or actually the Expo visitors did as they have chosen the Honda Activa e: as the People’s Choice Expo’s Best Bike. Our editor-in-chief, Siddharth Vinayak Patankar, has been organising and recognising the best at Auto Expo for years and this edition was no different. While noted automotive journalists Renuka Kripalani, Yogendra Pratap and Hani Musthafa as well as a few members of team Acko Drive were instrumental in the judging process for the rest of the award categories, the People’s Choice one was awarded to the voice of the Expo junta.

And the audiences were pretty delighted to see India’s favourite scooter in electric form. The expo was the first time Honda showed the Activa e: to the public, and judging by the reaction, the Japanese brand will not have much to worry about. The other quite common responses were the Hero XPulse 210 and the TVS Jupiter CNG but they weren’t as abundant as the Japanese electric scooter.

Honda did launch the Activa e: at Auto Expo 2025 at ₹1.17 lakh (ex-showroom). It has two 1.5 kWh swappable batteries that enable it to go 102 km on a single charge. It has honest performance capabilities, 0-60 kmph in 7 seconds and a top speed of 80 kmph.

Bookings for the Activa e: had already commenced earlier this month as it would only be available in three cities to begin with: Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai. Honda would be setting up the swappable battery stations across these cities, so that the customer can experience minimal down time from riding their e-scooter.

There is no other way of charging the e-scooter, though, which makes it a bit of a challenging proposition for the large-scale adoptability of the tech. Hopefully, we should have a better picture of the operational aspect of the Activa e: when we get to ride it, which should be sometime in February. Until then, for more details on the Activa e:, head over to this story.
