This will be the first ever update that the Sonet will get since its debut back in 2020.
Kia India is finally unveiling the facelift to its popular Sonet subcompact SUV, after months of speculation and spotting test mules across India. This will be the first ever update that the Sonet will get since its debut back in 2020, bringing several cosmetic enhancements as well as fresh additions to its equipment list. Moreover, the company will also introduce ADAS functions, similar to what we’ve seen on the refreshed Hyundai Venue. However, the prices of the Kia Sonet facelift will be announced next year in 2024.
The exterior styling of the Kia Sonet facelift receives the majority of changes in terms of a new grille, along with tweaks to the front fascia that include a new set of LED headlamps, LED DRLs, and a revised bumper flanked by a new set of LED fog lamps positioned differently. In profile, the Kia Sonet facelift receives very little to report about however we do hope that Kia offers new alloy designs for its wheels. At the back, the Kia Sonet facelift will receive a new LED connecting strip, much akin to most of the new-age SUVs, including the Venue, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza. The rest of the elements remain unchanged, albeit the rear bumper gets slight tweaks.
Inside, the Kia Sonet facelift remains largely unchanged with a few new additions to the equipment list. The cabin layout remains unchanged while the climate control panel and seat upholstery are revised. The large display continues to be the same 10.25-inch screen with no real changes to the features on it. The key highlight here though is a new 10.25-inch instrument panel while features such as ventilated seats, drive modes, sunroof and wireless charging remain the same.
Under the hood, the Kia Sonet facelift will continue to employ the same powertrain options including petrol and diesel engines as well as a turbo-petrol unit, coupled with a slew of gearbox options. Kia will offer its engines with manual, iMT, and iVT as well as automatic gearbox.
In terms of safety, the big addition is the introduction of ADAS, while 6-airbags, ESC, and parking sensors all around are carried forward from the outgoing model. Keeping this in mind, do expect the Kia Sonet facelift to fetch a slightly premium price tag over the older model. We expect Kia to price the refreshed Sonet at around Rs. 8.50- Rs. 15.60 lakh (ex-showroom, India), rivalling the likes of Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Renault Kiger and the Nissan Magnite.
