Monterey Car Week 2024: Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Makes A Debut

In a grand unveiling at Monterey Car Week 2024, Mercedes-Maybach took the wraps off its latest creation, the SL 680, a luxury roadster. The 2-door convertible blends style, comfort, and performance. Based on the Mercedes-AMG SL, the Maybach SL 680 has a range of comfort-oriented changes and styling updates that align with the Maybach brand.

The exterior features a revised front bumper, Maybach grille, and 21-inch wheels, giving the SL 680 a distinctive and sophisticated look. The design also includes Maybach logo patterning on the bonnet, roof fabric, and wheels, as well as rose gold detailing within the headlamps.

Inside, the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 is adorned with premium white Napa leather upholstery, Maybach-specific graphics on the digital interfaces, and silver trim inserts, creating a luxurious ambience. Mechanical changes include a revised noise-optimised exhaust system, extensive use of sound-deadening material, and softer engine mountings, ensuring a comfortable and quiet ride.

The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 engine, producing 569 bhp and 800 Nm. The exterior design features a revised front bumper, Maybach grille, and 21-inch wheels, giving the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 a look to take a second glance at. The suspension setup has also been re-tuned for greater focus on comfort, while rear axle steering comes as standard. With a 0-100 kmph sprint time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 260 kmph, the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 is no slouch under with all that comfort features. Interestingly, it shares the same power output as the full-blown AMG SL 63, but with revised powertrain tuning, resulting in a slightly slower acceleration and lower top speed.

The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 is available in two standard specifications - Red Ambience and White Ambience - with additional paint options available on request. The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 will be available in the summer of 2025. But this weekend at Pebble Beach, you can reserve one by paying a deposit.
