The debut electric bike will retain the typical retro styling that Royal Enfield is known for.

Royal Enfield's much-anticipated entry into the electric motorcycle segment appears to be nearing reality, with what looks like a production-ready bike recently spotted being tested on the streets of Barcelona. The company's electric ambitions have been known for some time, and we got the first official confirmation for the same last week with its first official teaser. The latest sightings come right ahead of the 2024 EICMA, where the Chennai-based manufacturer is slated to unveil the bike in all its glory.

The Royal Enfield electric motorcycle sticks to the retroroadster design that the brand is known for. And like we had discussed in our teaser article, the electric bike draws inspiration from Royal Enfield's historic WD/RE125 'Flying Flea', which was famously used in World War II.

While we still don't know its exact battery capacity, if our predictions are true, just like the Flying Flea from before, the new Royal Enfield electric will also likely offer between 200 to 250 km of range. It shouldn't be an out-and-out performance-oriented motorcycle. However, we expect it will be fast enough for city use. Lastly, the prototype features a fixed battery configuration rather than a removable system, evidenced by its structural design.

The spy photographs also reveal several notable design elements like a retro-girder fork, a curved faux tank, and classic Royal Enfield styling cues including chunky mirrors, bold indicators, and a signature round headlight. The LED headlight is the same unit as seen on all new Royal Enfield bikes and the circular instrument console could be the same TFT unit as seen on the Himalayan 450. As for how the production motorcycle will look, stay tuned to this space. We will be reporting directly from the show floors of EICMA in Milan and get you direct access to the bike.
