Volkswagen has announced plans to introduce an entry-level electric vehicle, the ID. EVERY1, with an anticipated base price of approximately €20,000 (approx. ₹18 lakh). The concept version of the vehicle is set to be unveiled on March 5, while the production model is scheduled for release in 2027.
The ID. EVERY1 aims to provide an accessible, high-quality electric vehicle (EV) tailored for the European market. Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer emphasised the significance of positioning the ID by positioning an affordable and profitable EV from Europe for Europe.
Daniela Cavallo, Chairwoman of the General and Group Works Council of Volkswagen AG, reinforced the importance of the new model, stating that it would embody Volkswagen's core values. Employees at the Wolfsburg plant will be given an exclusive first look at the vehicle's design before its public debut.
The ID. EVERY1 is part of Volkswagen’s broader push into the electric small car segment, alongside the upcoming ID. 2ALL. The ID. 2all will launch in 2026 with a base price of under €25,000 (approx. ₹23 lakh), reinforcing Volkswagen’s commitment to affordable EVs.
Both models are based on an enhanced version of Volkswagen’s modular electric drive (MEB) platform. This strategic move strengthens Volkswagen’s presence in the electric vehicle market, following the success of its ID. product family, which has sold over 1.35 million units globally since its 2019 debut. In 2023 alone, Volkswagen sold 383,100 all-electric vehicles.
Volkswagen reaffirmed its commitment to the Wolfsburg plant, which will remain central to the company’s electric transformation. Schäfer confirmed that relocating Golf production to Mexico would free up space at Wolfsburg for new EV production. The next-generation electric Golf and the high-volume electric T-Roc will be built at the facility on Volkswagen’s new Scalable Systems Platform (SSP).
The introduction of the ID. EVERY1 aligns with Volkswagen’s broader "triple A" plan—Accelerate, Attack, and Achieve. This strategy is part of the "Zukunft Volkswagen" (Future Volkswagen) agreement, which outlines the company’s vision for economic stability, employment security, and technological leadership in sustainable mobility.
