Although Daman and Diu are often referred together, they are two distinct locations. There is a vast distance between the two towns. Daman is near the Maharashtra-Gujarat border while Diu is in Gujarat’s southern coast near the famous Somnath temple. Thus, the places to visit have been divided accordingly.

Daman’s Tourist Spots:

Church of Bom Jesus: This church in Moti Daman is known for its Roman architecture. It was built by the Portuguese. Even after years, the church looks splendid because of its interiors and wooden altars. It houses six statues of Christian saints and is crowded during festivals.

Jampore Beach: If you are someone who likes to relax by the beach and watch the sunset, Jampore beach is a great place to be. You can walk along the shore or go swimming. Kids can have a horse-riding session as well.

St. Jerome Fort: St. Jerome Fort is a must-visit site for history buffs and photography enthusiasts. It is located near the Damanganga River. The fort complex has a church, a cemetery and ruins. You can catch a great view of the shipping boats and the river from the fort.

Diu’s Tourist Spots:

Diu Fort: This Portuguese fort should top your destinations’ list during your Diu trip. It is covered by sea from three sides. This fort was of great importance from an administrative standpoint during the Portuguese rule.

Nadia Caves: Visiting Nadia Caves will give you an otherworldly experience. It is a network of tunnels with openings and crevices. Sunlight passes through these openings and lights up the cave. It is one of the best places to visit in Diu.

St. Paul Church: The pristine white colour of the church is what strikes the eye at first glance. It is another example of appealing Portuguese architecture. The church is dedicated to Our lady of Immaculate Conception.
